here is a vintage cluster brooch of white molded lava glass with aurora borealis accents.
believe it to be made by BEAU Jewels. it is unsigned and there are no identifying marks. UPDATE: I have ruled out BEAU Jewels as the maker of this piece - please refer to the wonderful comments /information below. Lori
Beau Jewels worked under the leadership of Bowman and Foster from the end of 1940s till the beginning of 1970s. the company ceased to exist more than forty years ago. “Beau”, translated as dandy, meant for those who kept up with the modern fashion of the time, but at the same time appreciated the classical style
The big white cabochons are a very nice touch !~
RichmondLori it's a beautiful brooch and this post made me go dig in all my costume jewelry for a demi parure /brooch & earring set I have by Beau Jewels. I had no clue about this company and had done some online research (long time back) from what I found about examining construction on the flip side.
Online info;
brooch bases usually consisted of a small plate (sometimes filigreed) with riveted "Vee" section pin mechanism. Arms or rays would fan out and be riveted with single or multiple "blossoms" or "leaves" set with rhinestones. Earring clips would also be riveted to a small plate or leaf/blossom design, again with arms fanning out, riveted with leaves or blooms set with rhinestones.
Sometimes signed earrings but never it's brooches.
I will share a post of the set I have for you to look at the flip side and also there are some beautiful pieces online to reference construction.
