My grandfather (99) passed away recently and I got this trunk handed down to me. Unfortunately I really have no back story on it as we found it in back of one of his garages my uncle did say he remembers it being at my great grandparents house. It looks like he may have painted the gold detail on the outside. The main lock is broken with no key but the bar that locks the drawers has a key. The interior is covered with gold embossed paper and the bottom drawer still has the satchel with hay attached to it. There are no maker marks on it I could only find 1035 stamped into the leather handle. The only trunk I found that it may be is Likly because of the same interior paper lining. Could anyone help me identify the maker and the proper way to clean the outside and inside. The inside of the drawers seemed to be linen fabric lined and has strong musty smell. Thank you in advance for any information.
