I think that these are old and majolica - probably french. One has an impressed signature - Dore? or Dave? They are really beautiful and i'd love to learn more about them.

      I found these on Worthpoint.

"These beautiful and delicate pieces seem to be rare. We looked on Ebay and saw some info on this style of pottery by Doris Suman. These are approx 4 3/4" to 5". They are in good condition. One is marked Doris. The green one has a small chip and the other has a couple of tiny nics and it has a "bump" that was done when made. Please feel free to ask questions!! Thank you for looking and have a blessed day! Pottery History.... About 1943, Alvin Laurence Suman, a well-known artist whospecialized in pottery, had moved to Sierra Madre from Los Angeles in1935. He and his wife, Doris, who was also a well-known artist, developed Suman Pottery to fill the commercial need for the replacement of fine imported European ceramics, which, due to World War II, had all but ceased to be available. Doris designed a small petal tray to fill available space in the kiln, which became the key model for the development of the nationally sold "Petal Ware." The company was known for its "Petal Ware" dinnerware, which was featured in major home magazines in that era."

Like that they have the firing easel marks!

Good find. As you might imagine, these "Petalware" pieces were easily damaged. The vases are especially hard to come by. If you are unfamiliar with Sierra Madre, it is in the Los Angeles area.

I have a complete service for eight, including 14 inch centrepiece, serving bowls, soup, teacups, salad plates, dinner plates, etc.
The entire set was featured on the cover of a Haywood Wakefield catalogue of 1948.
Information seems to be rather scarce.
I would like to sell the entire set.
