This was destined for Goodwill donation before I picked it up and first moved it today, noticing immediately how much better quality (heavier!) it is, vs. any other ironing board I've seen for a couple decades. In somebody else's house that is -- until now (well, soon?) I've never actually *had* (needed) an ironing board in my house...guess I need to find a fun old iron too, to go with it...?? <lol>

This one is a LADY SEYMOUR, a product of SEYMOUR TOOL & ENGINEERING Co., Inc., of Seymour, Indiana. (underside label in pic2) It is finished in pink paint (I wish it was red, or yellow, but pink is good) and has gracefully curved steel legs to hold it up as well as a very sturdy and no doubt reliable mechanism to fold and unfold it, including a feature to allow it to be locked in place at "halfway up". (for when you're ironing 'tall things', or when mom puts the rugrats to work too on laundry day...??? <lol>)

I don't know how old it is, but guessing 1950's? I'll probably run its existing pads thru the wash machine then get a new set to put over them in case I do actually ever find an iron and try to use it...?? ;-) :-0

Nice! I learned to iron as a child....maybe 1st grader, when I got put to work ironing my dad’s white handkerchiefs and folding them in a certain way, then re-ironing them folded so the edges were nice. Everything got ironed back then, even my dad’s boxer shorts- but I wasn’t allowed to iron them....Mother ironed them.
I haven’t had a need for my ironing board in years....if I need to iron something, I just put a towel on the top of the washer and use that as my ironing board.
I’m glad you are saving that one.
