I found this Louis XVI chair yesterday. It was upholstered not too long ago, but i think it looks like it has honest wear. I'm thinking of getting it upholstered in my mod-mid-century fabric. I really like it. I think it's old - possibly 18th c. what do you think?
Its too hard to tell sometimes condition doesn't mean old. It looks 1960's although may be newer 20th century.
Good for you for thinking of giving it a new life with a bold bright re-upholstery job. It just needs some love and a facelift!
I just re-upholstered a dull faded 1960s or 1970s ottoman and used a fabric that makes me happy just to look at it now.
Please post an update after you work some magic on it!
at the newest, it's 19th c. i've had enough really old furniture to know the difference. it was reupholstered poorly in the last 25-30 yrs, but the chair is old. i was wondering whether it was early or late 19th c. i haven't opened up the cloth underneath, but i can feel it has the old woven things under it.
