I posted these two together for efficacy. I truly don’t want to overtax you in the process of my picking your quite brilliant brains to help me find some history on baubles that call to me.
By the way, I just want you to know that whenever I say that it usually means the piece was gorgeous and relatively cheap.
The earrings I’ve had for a long time and actually wear them. I can’t do pierced ears so screw backs and clip-ons are the only ones I can wear and these are fabulous! I think they are 1920? Art nouveau? I read so much and try to learn from you guys, why is it that I can look at someone else’s jewelry and come up with a decent guess but can’t figure it out with my own pieces?
The pin I bought several years ago because he was fun and different. He had fallen over in one of my glass display cases and I just now re-discovered him! I’d love to have information on this little guy.
You know, as always, I appreciate you and treasure your help!
I found your brooch while doing a search on "Blackamoor figural asian brooch". I'd done a "Selro/Selini" jewelry search - some were close but no cigar items. Changed the search criteria and found an exact match. I didn't follow though 'cos the URL seems dodgy! If you do the search yourself you'll find it early on. Can't help with the earrings I'm afraid.

Gillian-thank you a thousand times over! My mother is a decorator and I’m very familiar with blackamoor but I didn’t associate it with this because it looks Indonesian or something… You are brilliant! Seriously! I did not know anything about the other name-Selro- but I’m going to follow your search and go from there. I kept typing in Indonesian I couldn’t find anything I really appreciate it.
Thank you, Eileen! Gillian was spot on… I found the image quite easily. Funny how long I spent looking and all I needed was the term blackamoor! It’s missing the chain at the bottom. But I can’t tell you how wonderful it is and what a sweet surprise, to open my email and find someone has helped identify something on which I’ve exhausted every lead attempting two lane. Thank you again Gillian! Now… If I could get a read on the earrings! I get so many compliments when I wear them it would be nice to have some type of knowledge about them! Thanks to you Eileen, I’m getting better with pin clasps as well as researching the different types of backs of earrings and when they were manufactured! Unfortunately, these have continued to elude me.
