May I ask advice of the experts here?
I have a Carl Falkenstein lamp and the glass shade had a red film attached to it. It is now peeling of but what I wanted to know is - would this have been original to the lamp or added later? Did Falkenstein lamps use film on clear glass to colour the light?
Very much appreciate any advice on this.
with thanks
This glass which is made by a company near Birmingham, England, was finished with a sprayed colour lacquer, which was susceptible to scratching off. I probably know the lamp you mentioned as I might have designed it, the base, cover plate and two galleries. that fit around the glass. Were imported from Falkenstein USA to UK in the early 70's, if it the model I am thinking of, it is a 28-54 and yes it was sold as new complete throughout the UK. Hope this helps.
