I don't know much about this chair other than it was my grandparents. This chair rocks back and forth but unlike traditional rocking chairs it rocks at the base of the chair rather than on the legs. any information anyone has on this would be much appreciated!
Rocking as it does, it’s called a spring rocker. Coiled springs like that are still available. You might find the name of the spring manufacturer on the springs.
I have one that I painted and reupholstered. I love the way it rocks so smoothly and quietly.
