I remember those 'big-button' phone sets -- quite the novelty (for a brief period) back then, especially for older folks with not-so-sharp eyesight. That yours carries the AT&T brand name makes it a generally higher quality item than many other 'lookalikes' that copied the concept, but still not nearly as durable than the classic "500 series" telephone variations with handsets one could nearly literally drive nails with. (instead of a hammer)
Not only are these phones still made, the VA gives them to veterans who have hearing or sight problems. I have hearing disability that goes back to Vietnam and I have one just like this. Mine has another little adapter you plug a lamp into and the lamp flashes on and off when the phone is ringing.
The state of Florida and many other states also give these out.
