TRAV-L-BAR beverage opener w/bakelite handle

Here's a cool old bottle/can opener that's heavy chrome plated with a way-fun bakelite handle in a marbled yellow and brown coloration. The back edge of the metal opener part is stamped TRAV-L-BAR so I can't help to think this was part of one of those once. There's an outside chance I might have the actual bar case this came out of somewheres, but I can't locate it at the moment while the opener is right here, so I might have got it separately too...? Pic4 shows an interesting detail I know nothing about, the number "16" is stamped into its end. If anybody has any idea why that is there, please leave a comment!!
