Mystery bed

I was helping a friend set up her stall in an antique mall when I saw this bed and fell in love with it. Every time I went with her I would see it, sit on it, I was hooked and ended up buying it. At this point I have found no one who has ever seen a bed like this or knows what it's history or age is. I would love to hear any information someone might have about it. I had a friend over for a few days, she slept on it using a futon mattress I had, she said she slept really well and no creaking spring sounds. I was amazed by the fact that the bed opens and closes easily and smoothly considering how old it might be. If anyone has any ideas about it's history or where I might find info about it I would be very grateful.
