Terracotta figurine?

I picked this up some time back with some pottery and other figures. I abrubtly had to move so I boxed and stored it. Recently, I began unpacking boxes and I came by it. I hadn't noticed it seems older than the other pieces and more it has a mystery in it. It makes me think it is an offering. The only clue I have is a piece of pottery from the group is a fish labled Handmade in Guatamala. Any opinion aboutwhat it may be or what may be inside. It is not a typical larvae it is hard, almost a part of the clay. Can anyone help me identify it or point me to the right people? The figure is dirty but I dare not even brush it hard. What do you think. It looks mad >:(
