Hello everyone!!
About 5 years ago, I posted a set of these cold painted cast iron anthropomorphic rabbit couple. I recently was able to acquire another set at a very reasonable price. For these to be cast iron, they're extremely well cast. You typically do not get such fine detail from cast iron. I've always loved the old world styling of this couple and how nicely modeled they are. So, I was extremely pleased to find another set. The female measures 8" tall and the male measures 7 3/4" tall. They're all solid cast iron, so they're each fairly heavy. Pic #4 shows both sets together.

nice pair - you are right the details are great, do you know what they would carry in those baskets? love them, I just wonder what they are used for, I mean cast iron is not lightweight. are they something you would put on the table? How old are they?

Thank you very much!! I've always thought the baskets were intended as match holders and the bases as strikers. But, I've never found confirmation of that. In regards to their age, I don't think they're any older than the 1970's, but could be wrong about that.
