We recently acquired this guitar from a family member (deceased)
and have had a heck of a time tracking down any information on it, as it is apparently a guitar handcrafted in Mexico.
The best info we've got so far is from a company called Candela's Guitars
(www.candelas.com) and this is what they said in response to the email and pictures I sent them:
"This is a bajo quinto. It was made in Paracho, Mexico."
We've taken it to two different guitar shops where we live in NE Iowa and neither has ever seen one in person and subsequently weren't any help. It has had an aftermarket Gabbanelli Electric Pick-up installed, which one of the guitar shops tested and said it worked great and was worth about $50 on its own. The guitar itself is in great condition, has excellent sound quality and beautiful inlaid wood details, including the gorgeous abalone shell inlays you see.
We'd really like to know what we've got here and what its value may be.
