This green glass pitcher is 8.25" high x 4" in diameter. It is not marked. Not sure if it was blown in a mold or done by hand. I am leaning toward hand blown as I think I can see the remains of a pontil mark but the bottom appears to have been hot worked. It is very reminiscent of Wayne Husted's design for Blenko.

The base does not look like Blenko, Bischoff or Rainbow to me, however, as all of those makers have fairly prominent pontil marks on their pitchers. The color reminds me of Blenko, but many West Virginia glass houses got their glass blanks from the same sources so their colors can be similar. Pretty sure it is American, just not sure of the maker. Maybe Pilgrim, Kanawha or Fayette, though I haven't seen enough examples of Fayette glass to be sure of what the range of marks on their glass looked like. I have only one piece of Fayette glass in my collection a tall mold swung vase. Any thoughts on who made this pitcher?

One of three finds today... I went back for the Bischoff bowl/ashtray I saw on Wednesday but it was gone. The person who manages the store did not remember selling it, so someone probably swiped it! This pitcher was $2.

Thanks Karen. I was sure that I would get some feedback on this one! It is a fairly iconic shape in West Virginia 1950s glass.

Thanks for your comments and compliments, Eileen! All of my photos are done using my old Samsung smart phone and edited with a graphics program called The GIMP. If my beloved Panasonic camera had not died, my images would be much better.

I tend to jabber.... Glad you enjoy it!

I have seen a few similar but not identical pitchers. It was an iconic style created by Wayne Husted and copied by many, but it is a 1950s design so not so commonly seen today.
