This is the brooch which matches the last post, I wanted to post it since I got it in Jan or so in 2021 from cornydeb. It matches the earrings I last posted and it may be the most desired brooch that Sherman ever made ! In this colour they must have made a fair share, but they are quite hard to find these days with so many people wanting one. They come up for sale rarely. The brooch is set with deeper siam red colours and some abing and the brooch has a black Japanned back. It is roughly 4 tiers of stones and the crown is only about 1/4 of an inch but packs in 19 tiny stones. It takes a bigger box or showcase, and is higher than pretty much any other Sherman piece !
This magnificent piece is almost 3 inches wide and one of Sherman's widest. It is an essential piece if you are collecting Siam Red Black Japanned Sherman pieces for a collection of them. The earrings are hard to find and did not come with this piece and I was crazy to buy them as they were the most expensive cost, would have cost no more had they been diamonds of considerable size. A good buy considering the earrings horrid cost !~ .....H
Spectacular & gorgeous siam red Sherman brooch, the tiered navette design is awesome! Together with those beautiful matching earrings, this glorious set is a sheer joy to behold
Thank you Eileen, I believe it came from the finishes that Siam pieces such as bracelets and earrings they made in Siam used. The 2 are crimson and black and the Siam finishes are particularly for instance the deepest of red for the Siam stones and finishes they used. The stones are no longer made from my understanding from someone who does a lot of jewellery stone replacement for our Sherman in Canada. When you see Red Siam, they used a regular red crimson colour and also a colour that needs its own description it is so deep a red !~
Sometimes using different lights I notice on some pieces esp with smaller stones, the stones can almost look black to the eye !~
If you buy Gold or Rhodium backed pieces they particularly used a lot of lighter Red
or Crimson stones also !~
absolutely beautiful. Wonderful.
