This is a McKechnie Bros advertising paperweight which was issued 100 years ago for the company representatives to promote Tank Brand Metals
It is a solid brass casting weighing over one and a half pounds It shows the remains of a painted finish but this could be polished
The question is should I polish this real antique rarity?
Definitely don't polish it you will decrease it's value for other collectors if you ever want to move it on.
BHIFOS yes normally I would agree however there are very few examples on the internet
One is polished brass one is natural with the patina of age and the example pictured on the McKechnie History which was produced recently by a third party is is somewhat ambiguous and may not be as original so of the three I have found which is correct?

I bought the tank along with two other tanks one being trench art and the third a tin plate toy . Value depends on supply and demand and for rare items like this demand is the governing factor. Who wants one and where is the marketplace?
My guess at a monetary value would be perhaps £20 but I would stress that is a guess
