Hello had to sort out some boxes today as they have started to perish under the weight of being stacked for years, opened the first one and found this first. I remember finding this about 10 years ago when I first started buying old stuff that noone wanted, can’t say how old it might be or where it’s from unfortunately. But beautiful, the funny thing is I left the other one as it had a small dent in it. I didn’t even know that a pair was a good find.
Feel pretty safe in saying this is a 20th century Chinese cloisonne vase made of brass and stone powders.
Any damage seriously impacts value, but in good shape, they can be collectible and depending on the intricacy of the design and workmanship, can be worth quite a bit.
If you want to lose an hour or more to get the most from its appearance, get a small dish with some high octane isopropyl alcohol and a handful of q tips.
Dipping the q tip into the alcohol and carefully using it to clean the gold colored wires that divide the colors in the design, you'll find that the wires are likely very dirty and not as vibrant as after you clean them. Its time consuming, but worth it. DO NOT dip, wipe or submerge it in any liquid, including alcohol or water.
Enjoy your treasure!
Thanks a lot mae great helpful information, I will try out your tip on how to make this vase look better
