    This belt buckle was found in Chesterfield County, VA in front of the old coal mine railroad in Midlothian, VA.

      This would be from well after the War For Southern Independence or foreign occupation. Can you tell I'm from the South ? A quick look of U.S. buckles is only confusing (at least to me). My guess from collecting "stuff", is probably around the Spanish-Amer War thru early 1900's. Scottv will be along soon and probably tell you who it was worn by.

      Looks to be M1872 belt plate.

      So could be just after the Insurrection, but these were used into the early part of the 20th century (foreign occupation???).

      No telling how/ when it ended up where you found it.
