Here's another bit of 1980's-ish REALISTIC branded 'home audio technology' from RADIO SHACK. (a division of Tandy Corporation) Like their MINIMUS speakers they were reasonably popular sellers even despite their somewhat dubious intended function...they actually pretty much *did* exactly what they were supposed to do (by generating/emphasizing treble frequencies, that is) but lots of people that bought them eventually discovered that they didn't really need (or want?!) to listen to any more (harsh?!) treble frequencies than what their existing speakers already provided...thus lots of these ended up otherwise sitting in loudspeaker arrays/shelves/etc. being hooked up to and doing exactly NOTHING AT ALL... <lol>
They also found some popularity being used in car/vehicle audio systems of the time, likewise tending to get themselves disconnected after awhile whether removed or not...people *still* want more *BASS* than treble whether at home or on the road...it's always been that way, always will be... <lol>
