This 1 3-4"W goldtone brooch is shaped like a caterpillar, with bright gold & black enamel body, white rhinestone head and pair of green eyes. From Britain's Attwood & Sawyer (1956-2003) with A&S mark on back, made in the 1980s
Adorable piece!
That's so sweet! I have a certain liking for caterpillars and I love finding them! I'm constantly finding them on a red rose bush I have and I always adore the way they creep along, stop and stand up and then keep on creeping, they can be very funny to watch, and very curious!
Yours, I think has been captured mid stretch and is ready to stand up and check his surroundings, I love his little beady eyes and his brown tones(like Tiger's Eye)
She is just to sweet and cool :-)
I remember the summer gravel road on the way to the farm was full with millions of these precious but real caterpillars in the road. He has to be the most adorable insect you have !~
Aww, he is so cute! Nearly a cartoon character :-)

Thank you MrsT for your sweet praise, I am really glad that you liked this unusual brooch, I found its uniqueness very appealing
Lauren it's absolutely true that caterpillars are fascinating to watch gliding along, and there are so many different types - with this brooch coloring it most resembles the monarch variety that becomes the beautiful Monarch butterfly, a very cool transformation I'm sure! They must be so cute on your rose bush, I'm sure it's lovely to attract them. Thank you so much for your fabulous comment
Thanks Mani for your really kind words about this caterpillar, it must be a she with its pretty colors & rhinestones - and later will become one of your favorite things, a butterfly :)
Thank you Phil for the wonderful praise for this lil creeper, if your gravel road had tons of them you must've also had lots of butterflies, how terrific! We live in suburbia but do have a large property, it is summertime here now and you see tons of insects including these, however being near water our most prevalent are dragonflies
Yes Pascale, agreed this bug is somewhat cartoony with its patch coloring! You always appreciate my crawlers and I thank you so much for your super comment
Thank you Scott for enjoying my lil cutie bug and your great comment it is really so nice of you
Really love this!
So grateful for the thoughtful love all

Isn't this a weirdly cute bug vintagelamp, I love it too and I thank you so much for your kind comment - think during the summer months we are very aware of little creepers like this one :)
Thanks Penny & Mani for the caterpillar love, very pleased that you enjoyed this bug he is quite the charmer
Such the extraordinary brooch!! Perfect to wear in all seasons. Don't see many caterpillar brooches on this site. 5 stars for being so cute too!!!!!
FreshAir thank you so much for the wonderful praise & love for this caterpillar, it was a surprising find for me and a cool design from Attwood & Sawyer - I have a few of their brooches but even tho they're not that old, the prices can be ridiculously high. For example, they also made this caterpillar in 18kt gold and on the 'essie' site it goes for five bills. Have also seen it in blue & green enamel but this color combo was more unusual and true to the real monarch caterpillars coloring. Glad you liked!
BTW, noticed your pic in the early a.m. yesterday & want you to know that I've always known but respect your privacy, having been burned on the 'net (and this site a couple times) I totally understand. There are haters everywhere online, but know that I will always love you and am thrilled to see you here again, love your posts & am truly grateful for your kindness & support
Thank you Searching for the love of this caterpillar brooch, it's very kind of you and most gratefully appreciated
Thank you vintagelamp for the love for this A&S caterpillar brooch, one of my cuter bug figurals & I'm thrilled that you liked it
