    I think it's civil War era the grey background is actually metal mesh so are the words and boarder stitching also metal There are three pins seen into the back of the patch. I inherited a large patch collection and found this in the mix it's all new to me so any help/advice is appreciated thank you.

      Significantly later.

      This is the distinctive unit insignia (dui) or simply unit crest for the 115th Infantry Regiment.

      Based on the size it looks to be a blazer crest. Probably dates from about the 1950s- 60s time period.
