I have not cleaned this one yet because I am not sure if it is worth it. The box looks pretty but has some damage to the glass inside. The cover is a bit interesting. It has for marks, one in each corner: a lion, a gate with three towers, a letter (hard to read: a p, g, or q), and what appears to be a blob or a head. I have no idea whatsoever about silver marks. To me, it looks like British but I am not sure if it could be silver or, like the label states, silver plated. After some time looking at the charts for silver and silver plate, all of the marks start looking the same to me.
The reason why I am confused is also the fact that the lion faces to the right, not to the left! So I guess, it is for sure not British silver.
There is also the number "2" under the lion. When searching for this mark, I found out the it possible might be Dutch. The lion facing right above the number 2 could be a standard mark for silver fineness of 83.3% the maker’s mark of the number "2" could be for Johannes Jacobus Neurdenburg, registered during 1894-1923 , in the cities of Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Rotterdam & The Hague.
So, it's no Sterling and maybe not silver plated. It also doesn't seem to be British but possibly Dutch. It's also possible that my eyesight is giving up on me. Or maybe it's just a waste of $1.00!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking:)
