      I'm curious about this -- is the bottom 'cap' (pic 3) a 'removable' thing?? (plastic?) I'm also assuming the metal 'liner' (pic 4) is just that, a piece that simply fits inside the glass? (no matter what the 'post' in its middle is for?) I'm only wondering because of the raised lettering on the top rim, particularly the word "STERN", which strongly suggests to me that the glass part *is* (or well, *was*?) actually a navigation light lens that really would have first been used on a boat...
