This 1 3-4"W goldtone brooch depicts Leo the lion, with a faux freshwater pearl & rhinestone accents by PIM from their astrology series of the 1970s. Along with a 4" round sculpted teal glass Leo the lion from Blenko Glass' zodiac paperweight series of the '70s-80s w/ orig label

I have to say that is a stunning orb brooch, the colour is great, reminds me of some kind of Grecian classical piece? (A pot or a shield or something...)
The pose on the little lion brooch is lovely too(he's very celestial) I think he might have swatted down a small planet and he's now playing with it in space and not very willing to hand it up either XD
The cabochon in the jewelry is wonderful love the two!~

Lauren you are truly my favorite Leo here, I hope your August birthday is just wonderful & everything you want it to be! Yes I'm usually early with an astrology post (although now would be Leo time for some July folks), wanting not to forget the zodiac time of the month. As you probably already know I've stopped posting for all the signs because non-animals are getting too hard to find things for, but I'll never forget the beautiful lions - wish that were my sign instead of the scarce mythological centaur lol :) Yes the image of the lion on the orb does have a very Grecian or almost hieroglyphic look to it, and as for the brooch with pearl, I think it is sort of shaped like the Leo constellation so yes, quite celestial. Fabulous comment as ever

Phil thank you so much for your awesome praise for both of these lions, I thought they were a well matched duo. The PIM jewelry co was only around for around a decade (70s) and though they made other pieces, their astrology series was their best & most popular, and of course Blenko did such varied gorgeous glass which today is super pricey

I think I still have a couple of the Blenko astrology paperweights still to post, they were really nicely done, and yes that is a fantastic celestial lion who really does resemble the constellation in form, so glad you enjoyed them!
