I was told this was a pewter stein, and that it was old. It looks like it is hand-tooled. Another interesting thing, it has dragon heads kissing on the handle. There are no marks on bottom. On one side has Zinn Andenken written on it. On the other side, it IHS with cross above H and brick wall etched below the letters inside circle resembling a sun. The motif is vineyard with brick wal. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks. (My wife typed this.)
This is akin to a modern-day thermos jug. The top screws off so it can be filled with a liquid or anything that will conveniently fit through the lid opening. Workers carried it to wherever they worked with their lunch in it. The German words are actually "Zum Andenken", which means "In remembrance". In all likelihood it was produced in Germany, and dates to the mid-19th century.
