I found this guy at a garage sale, and have no idea about the who, what, when, and where of him. I especially want to know the type of wood, but all info is appreciated.
TIA!!

Turns out he is a Chinese, boxwood, 1885-1915 ivory teeth and glass eyes budhai/buddha. The cracks are typical and best dealt with by deep injected application of linseed or coconut oil. It doesn't fix the crack, but it stops it growing.
Cheers.
I would use " boiled linseed oil " never raw linseed oil. you may want to do it twice. You can get hand feeding syringes at a pet store or glue syringes at most arts and crafts stores. The hand feeding syringes tend to have a finer tip, all of them are made of plastic like materials. It wouldn't hurt anything to also wet a paper towel with boiled linseed oil and give the entire thing a wipe down. Then just set aside and let it dry. Make sure to inject plenty into the cracks so it soaks up into the wood.
