This necklace and earrings are from my grandmother (1898-1970). They seem to be amethyst and tiny pearls. The back of necklace says “9ct” and the back of the earring are engraved with “sterling” I’d like to know approximate age of this set. I’m looking for a photo of my grandmother wearing it when she was a teenager..I know I’ve seen it somewhere. Also, I’d like to know how to clean it.
"Lavaliers are believed to have been named after the Duchess Louise de La Vallière, the mistress of French King Louis XIV in the mid 17th Century. ... In the last vestiges of the Victorian Era (1837-1901), lavalier pendants were sweet and detailed, with floral motifs and delicate seed pearls." Sweet and detailed indeed.
