Old 45 records with color vinyl...Fairly hard to find...An old advertising gimmick...The coolest one I have is Gran Max in white vinyl (I will post it later - all I have now is a stock photo and it is of a 33 1/3 but the band released 45's in white vinyl too)...Once again, not incredibly rare - but getting harder to find these items - especially in the days of the IPOD...

Here is a record pressed in Coke Bottle Green. I know nothing about the band - I do not own a turntable anymore - but I thought the color of the record was really cool and I bought it!

It turns out, a handful of obscure bands released records in Coke Bottle Green. I don't know why---but I have always been drawn to the Coke Bottle Green color. After some research, I found out the green color in the glass comes from the sand used in the production of the Coca-Cola bottles. Please enjoy!

Also early 50s R & B records were pressed on color wax, most of those records were colored for one REASON, so if a radio station had the record and it was on say red wax or Blue, the DJ could tell it was a BLUE RECORD( a record about sex or drinking ) the DJ could not play it.
Some of the most highly collectable 45s to collect are colored wax R & B from the fifties, some of the following were pressed on color wax:
King 4501 (Blue Wax) The swallows- it aint the meat Value $1500-2500 Mint
ANY Flamingoes on Chance or Parrot on Red Wax
Amos Milburn Aladdin 10 inch LP on REd Wax Value $5000 to 7500 Ultra Mint
And some Federal releases some were pressed on green or blue wax.

Thank you packrat-place! The Grand Funk record I bought way back when I was in 6th Grade. The ELO record I bought in 1977. I lost so many other records over the years. Do you collect records?

Thanks ttomtucker...I found a couple of old records pressed in Coke Bottle Green...and I will post photos soon...

I am a product of my generation - so Grand Funk was "where it was at" - say no more if you know what I mean! The GranMax record is just awesome - it was never well known but you can find some of the tunes posted on YouTube..Thanks again!
