This is a wonderful curved-corner/octagonal frame with faux fancy-woodgrain (?) finish on most of its surface, containing a portrait of a seated lady. It features curved/domed glass (is there a better word for that?) and its kraft paper backing has been pulled off revealing a pencil written # 1168 on its now corrugated cardboard back holding the portrait inside. (if that # means something, I don't know what?) I am assuming the portrait is a photographic print, but I honestly don't know anything except that it isn't a *painting*...?

Once more I have no idea who she is, or who made and/or framed the image, nor when.

My guess is later 1920s - 1930s, going by her short waved hairstyle & simple, unfussy modern outfit. To me, she has Slavic looking facial features - the square jawline & deep set eyes. Perhaps she was from Central/Eastern Europe?
An interesting, rather poignant character in an equally interesting frame...
