I picked these up today at our annual 127 yard sale.
I do not see any labels or markings on the bottoms of the chairs at all. They are extremely sturdy but may have a slight cracking sound when you sit on them.
Do these just look like handmade chairs by someone or could they be old chairs? Have you seen chairs like this before?
Thank you for your help! ????????????????
Hello..What is intresting here and what I took notice of was I wonder and could be wrong, if these were not put together from 2 different items.
The seat, at first glance, reminded Me of the side/lamp tables made exactly like the seat. They were popular tables and at times would come as a set with coffee table.
The other notice was the wood itself, it looks so different from each other, the wood for the seat and the back of the chair, The color/stain as well.
Just a guess and only what I saw, EITHER way, these are unique however they were done.

We called those ass pinchers. Crude construction but shouldn't wobble when you sit in it long as you don't reel back on two legs.
Thank you two for your response.
Fhrjr2 I agree with the "ass pincher" statement. Lol! They are not comfortable, I'm going to put cushions on them at least. ????
Yes a marriage of back and seat. The backing is rather unique as many manufacturers put their own spin on furniture construction which was common for a lot of companies. Most manufacturers, approx 99%, left no records of their manufacture or company. One of the best places to look is to see if there were any companies in your town or city in the libraries Archive Room. Sometimes they have copies of Ads, postcards, etc. !~
