My mother gave this to me many years ago and said it belonged to her grandfather. It is not a zippo and has no signature on it. I believe it was made around 1920's and has Lynchburg Tenn on the front with a picture of Jack Daniel's and on the back it say Lynchburg Tenn and says 1866. It is a metal case that holds matches and my mom told me it had the orignal matches in it. I would like to know more information on this I've tried looking through the internet and so far all I can find is that metal cases were made in the 1900's. It is a neat Jack Daniels metal case and would love to pass it on to my son who is in the Navy but would like to know a little history about this metal Jack Daniel's match case. Any information would be nice thank you for you time..I look forward to finding out more about this.
Looks modern to me.
Have you done some online searches?
cannot be modern my mom is 85 and she gave it to me years ago and said it was from her grandfather.
Have done research on line and cannot find anything like that close..am thinking about having an aution house look at it so i will know some history
Good luck-- to me it looks like a modern gift shop item.
Many times family stories get mixed up:
Several years ago I went to look at a Civil War hat that had belonged to a g-g-grandfather, was worn during the Civil War, and been in the family since the 1860s (according to family).
The hat turned out to be a 1960s army hat.
Check for marks on the bottom-- I'd expect to see something.
