Famous clothing designer and doll maker, Lewis Sorensen was commissioned by Eleanor Roosevelt to make a doll collection of all the presidents and their 1st ladies. By his death he had made 3 sets in all. This set pictured is Adams through Truman. For more information email us at grace@floridaestatesales.org. This is a true piece of American History!
I have to admit that this is one collection I would never have thought to start. How neat that the clothing is the main theme - President - first Lady and all - but the style of their clothes worn during their terms in office, the traditional outfits worn by both him and her (sorry if that isn't the correct term today) details the changes in the way we have grown and evolved with each term as a society. I think the overall historical context is outstanding. thanks for posting. Lori
