Here are some more hand vases from my collection which I hadn't got around to posting yet.
Photo 1 - Two large hand vases in shades of green. The one on the left is a deep blue - green with gilded decoration, & measures 26.6 cm tall. The one on the right is 30 cm tall, & has an interesting story to it. I purchased it from eBay UK in 2015, & I was astonished & dismayed when the parcel turned up on my doorstep - because it was packed in only a shabby - looking padded bag! I seriously did not want to open it at all. I waited a few hours & then approached it with great trepidation. No tell - tale sounds of broken glass ensued as I opened the bag, to find it wrapped in a single layer of bubble wrap with a sparse scatter of styrofoam peanuts. I can only imagine it survived due to sheer good luck, & the fact it is a very solid & heavy vase. Oh, & perhaps also that it arrived on St Patrick's Day...maybe a little "luck of the Irish" helped it on it's way...
Photo 2 - Two Victorian hand vases in shades of ultramarine & cobalt blue. The left one is a very unusual form, have not seen another quite like it. It measures 24.5 cm tall, & is decorated with enameled lily of the valley flowers. The blue over white cased one on the right is also unusual - it is left handed. The intense colour & lavish gilding also add something extra.
Photo 3 - A ruby glass hand vase with gilding. Considering what a popular colour this was for glass in the Victorian era, it is rarely seen in hand vases. This one measures a very standard 22 cm tall.
adore the cobalt one with enamel
Many thanks, kivatinitz, it's one of my favourites, too!
I just *knew* you'd have a red one for me somewhere, Marin... ;-) :-) :-)
It's one of the rarer colours in hand vases, AnythingObscure, so you're lucky I had one for you! :-)
Love them!!!
The deep green-blue is a colour I don't associate at all with this sort of glass, but it's wonderful! They all are tbh.
Packaging horrors abound when you collect glass.
Thanks also, vintagelamp!
Much appreciated, Karen!
Oh yes, collecting glass is a tad anxiety - inducing to say the least...it was beyond lucky that this one survived the trip intact. I've had far better - packed items arrive broken...
Gorgeous !
