I acquired this piece in a salvage sale and shortly after had it reupholstered. The upholsterer believes it is circa 1850 and said the body/base is carved from a single tree. He said he believes stuffing may be horse hair ? It's incredibly heavy. Any ideas of age or maker/origins?
