MPC Megatherium Giant Sloth Plus A Marx Example 1960s

MPC is known for making near copies of the Marx Prehistoric Animals and this is an excellent example. Starting off here is the gray MPC Megatherium and then the Marx version. The MPC figure is 3" tall and the Marx 3 1/4". The MPC one has a concave belly while the Marx figure is much more well fed. Probably has about twice the plastic.
Megatherium was a prehistoric sloth that was 20 feet from head to tail. They weighed about 4 tons which is the size of an elephant. They just went extinct about 12,000 BC which is not all that long ago. Pretty much only some types of Mammoths were larger. Them and a prehistoric rhino. There bones were among the first prehistoric creatures found and they were quite the attraction until the dinosaur fossils showed up.
No need to fear I am not out of dinosaurs yet!
