We've had this large cased Satin over Pink glass Pitcher/Ewer for many years and we haven't come across a similar one that we could glean the information on. We suspect that it could be Italian but someone suggested Bohemian so we come here to find out from Collectors Weekly connoisseurs what they think. It is a huge pitcher at 12 5/8" tall and with a 6" wide body and has a clear satin finish handle. There is a tiny spout and the satin outer layer has a bubbles/windows design allover. It has a pedestaled base with an under-base that is concave with a smooth finish. Any Ideas?
The shape often occurs among Empoli glass ewers. This is a sample https://www.theoldcinema.co.uk/vintage-italian-empoli-art-glass-pitcher.html
The colour looks the same however it hasn't got bubbles.
Ivonne what a good eye..... adore this type of glass
Thank you Ivonne for your help! I did suspect Empoli but it was the satin and bubbles that had me perplexed.
Thank you kivatinitz for the love and comments and thank you blunderbuss2, vetraio50, AnythingObscure, BHIFOS, vcal and fortapache for the loves. RER
What a fabulous huge hunk of satin glass! As Ivonne said, it's Italian. They did revive air trap satin glass for certain items in the 1960s - 1970s era. It's a stunning colour, as well!
Thanks for the comments and love IronLace and thank you RichardLori and aura for the loves.
Ewers were a big Italian glass favorite during later 20th. Many wonderful creations with traditional sommerso glass decors, as well as the more modern Empoli clean line and single color fabrication designs.
My approach is to thing about all the fancy bird glass figurines they also produced during this period, when they used air trap decors, we often wonder if they are Czech. Bonjour Bob!
