Staffordshire 1870s Red Riding Hood
Loved this as soon as I spotted it! Love that wolf!!! From a local shop.
Victorian, circa 1870 Staffordshire figure of Little Red Riding Hood seated with her right hand placed on the wolf lying beside her. She has a basket over her left arm, and holds a bunch of flowers in her left hand. Vent hole to reverse.
Elegant Staffordshire Red Riding Hood piece, great colors & yes that wolf is fantastic, what sly eyes he has!
Newfld,
Funny that she is petting the wolf!
Love the little fox, he must have found a perfect perch on her wonderful hoop !~
PhilDMorris,
Yes, he makes the whole figurine! Thank you!
She’s great, not prissy, strong.
Foxy is a hoot!
A Super Staffordshire Red Riding Hood in great condition. Wonderful sculpture & glaze. To me, appears that by arriving early, Little Red Riding Hood may have saved her Grandmother from the wolf !
racer,
Yes, but the fox is supposed to be a wolf!
Alfie,
Do you think that the wolf looks like a wolf? Love it anyway!
It's the artist's interpretation of a wolf. As the story is told, it's a wolf. Looking at the many other Staffordshire 1870s Red Riding Hood figurines, all have different looking wolves and Red Riding Hoods!
Alfie,
I love the "wolf." He does look pretty friendly, however :)
Yes. Maybe this particular Staffordshire Red Riding Hood had tamed the wolf ! :)
Alfie,
Perhaps! She did a damn good job!
