I have this old brass Umbrella/Cane/Walking Stick Holder that I am trying to get information on. It measures 18" tall and is 8.5" in diameter. It has two 3" long brass spear-point style decorative handles with a 1" knob-like protrusion on each one which holds 2.25" oval brass rings. Each handle is attached from the inside with two single slot screws. The top and bottom have a beaded edge trim. I have looked it over closely and can't find any marks or numbers. It is in very good condition (some typical wear for a vintage piece) but no dents, scratches or damage and it has a natural patina. It weighs over 5 lbs.
I am trying to get an idea of the style (Arts and Crafts?) and when it may have been made. I was once told it could have been made from an old artillery shell but I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I thought when viewing it that it looked like WW1 vintage. I wish I had bought one about 25 years ago when I needed one. Now not so much as the person who was going to restore it "lost it".
