    I'm not sure if this is Bitossi or not. I don't recognize the signature under it, but it is decorated like the Bitossi hippos i've seen - w/ a faience-colored glaze and ancient egyptian depictions of Nile River flora.

      I think it reads MMA. I believe they were made not by Bitossi but by Zaccagnini. It is a repro of an ancient Egyptian piece in the Met called William.

      I have one very much the same. Bought by my son at the British Museum when he was a little lad, 20 something years ago. Part of the Egyptian collection
