There are parts of this which are obviously iron and rusting, but there are parts which i think are bronze. What do you think? When do you think it was made? Thank you!

and why do you think the cover comes off? and holes in the cover?
No good answer for your questions but I would, maybe, stash as spare key to the house in case I accidentally lock myself out.
A single long stem flower could be put in each of the holes - real flowers or fake. You could fill the body with water if using real flowers like Zinnias or Gerbera Flowers.
Obviously fashioned after someone's mother in law. They did a good job. I would agree with Alfie though. Garden or patio item
Wouldn’t that look sparse for flowers and out of place on a bird’s back?
i agree WS! the holes are really tiny too.
Maybe it is for cremating parakeets! Put charcoal and 100 toothpicks! light it! and sing the Door's song!
that's it! thank you toracat!
Mosquito repellent coils might fit inside and when smoldering, would emit the fumes thru the holes making the patio mosquito-free.
So many great ideas! How about incense sticks put in the holes & light'em up for a great aroma. In the belly of the crane, place a
Portable Wireless Music Bluetooth Speaker in there to play soothing music.
...including the Doors.
