I found this recently at a garage sale. Believe it's Fenton. All hand painted. Brass stand has two screws. Handles have angel head and wings at top. Pink inside. No marks. Does anyone know anything that might help identify?
At a garage sale??? Super cool. I need to hit the sales in your neighborhood. Mostly I just find old Christmas decorations.
I am still learning about Fenton. You know who the big kids are on this site regarding this type of collection. I will watch with interest.
:) I don't usually see any Fenton at the garage sales. Or it could be I don't know enough to spot it. This site is helping educate me.
very nice piece, yes i beleive the bowl is made by fenton... called peach blow. very nice item, thanks for sharing!
Thanks, fenton-hobnail. You don't happen to know when it was made?
Fenton-Hobnail: I didn't realize that Fenton added brass and painted their pieces. Granted I am newly immersed into Fenton but is this common? I have studied all the photos of your collections (green with envy) and haven't seen any painted ones. Now I know you have loads still packed away...
hi AmberRose, fenton only made the peach blow bowl. they never did the painting on this bowl and did not put it in the stand. the painting was done at a later time by a different company...same goes for the stand. thank you!
Thank you so much. Now I can sleep tonight! :)
FH, did this "repurposing" of Fenton happen often? I think this piece is really pretty.
sometimes. someone just tried to make it look prettier than it was before the painting and metal stand. i think whoever did the painting was going for a victorian look. hope that helps!
it would be nice to see an image of the inside of the bowl and a profile shot of the bowl out of the metal stand.
Thanks FH. Just trying to get the big Fenton picture. I really appreciate the patience you've shown with all of my questions. I apologize ahead of time for picking your brain on future posts :)
AmberRose: no need to apologize, im glad i could help!
I only go to garage sales to find Fenton. It may take 4 garage sales every week to find one thing a month, but when you find the one thing it's worth it!
Mrj303: i sent you an email.
Stunning Piece! I Love Cased Glass Brides Bowls! :)
I'll upload a couple pics of other views. I agree with Hobnail. I believe it was painted by someone else. The painting is not precise. I tried to remove the bowl from the stand, but I would have to pull the brass handles out and down, and I'm afraid of damaging the handles. Thanks for all the comments. I just love the bowl because it's so unusual.
Thank you, scandinavian_pieces.
This is the original Victorian glass that Fenton imitated with its Peachblow and Crest lines. Most likely Bohemian, ca 1890s-early 1900s. Not quite fine enough to be Mt. Washington, but very nice example.
Thank you, Paul71 !
