Being somewhat inspired by fellow CW contributor officialfuel's recent showing of his wonderful fluted pole/gas pump globe marriage, but lacking either a similar pole or flame globe, I dug these parts outta the basement today to assemble yet one more unusual bit of 'landscape lighting' for my rust garden out front. I think I'm rather pleased with the result?!!
Nothing used here is 'vintage' to much of any degree, the base is actually cast aluminum and was once the bottom (I think) part (only) of a completely different repro-retro ornamental street light fixture, it bears a patent date of 1899 but that certainly would refer *only* to the original design it copied. The globe is made of molded plastic with no maker's marks, and is also styled to mimic something much older than it really is. The whole thing stands about 2' tall, now.
I put a (handy) light socket with blue squiggle-bulb in it, at least until I decide if I want to keep it blue or not...with a modern LED bulb I could make it about any color I wanted to and/or 'changeable', but I think I kinda like the blue...? ;-) :-) :-)
That’s very very cool, day or night!
