I’m a beginner. 1951 S wheat penny with the top of the S squished down. That’s my best description. Has anyone seen this before?

It is not a known minting error so it is worth from one cent to fifteen cents depending on condition. It is worth collecting with other wheat pennies as a total collection. I collected them for many years then passed them along to my youngest son and grandson for them to carry on the collecting. They are doing a good job with all my old coins and adding more. My son had a friend that needed money last month and he bought an old ball canning quart jar full of mixed old coins from the guy for $20. You have to be in the right place at the right time and you can come away smelling like a rose.
Does that mean if it’s not a known error then it’s damage subsequent to being minted? Because I see no trace of the top part of an S. But I appreciate you letting me know.
