This is a family trunk handed down from my g-g-g-g-grandparents. It was stored in an outside shed and I’m afraid we had rodents who may have urinated on the trunk. Please tell me about my trunk and how to clean it

What a nice thing to have! I don’t know about rodent urine stains in particular, but in general you can use a mild dilution of dish soap and water to clean trunks. Make sure it dries off completely. Also you may want to disinfect it with mild isopropyl alcohol or borax. I did that with a couple of my trunks that I simply wanted to clean (rather than restore) and finished with a light shellac to bring out the colors. You can get more elaborate with specialized cleaning agents for the wood, metal, etc. parts but that may not be necessary. Also if the stain is difficult Marvin at This Old Trunk may be able to advise. http://www.thisoldtrunk.com/
