The doll has been in my family I was told for over 100 years so thats really strange that they would have made reproductions way back then. Of course I cant personally attest to anything before I was born but I am positive that I have memories of the doll at my grandmothers house since I was 5 years old which accounts for the last 45 years at the very least. I did include a new picture of the stamp or mark I found on the doll's side as well as the zoomed in face shot you requested.

I undressed her and removed the wig which appears to be original but I am no expert, not even close. The tags on the wig say "Kemper Original. 100% Madacrylic (I think...its difficult cursive on a small tag) Fiber. From Japan. Made in Korea" and a smaller tag that reads 12/13". I am not sure how to photograph inside the head cause there in only a small hole at the neck where what appears to be a spring is. Let me know if there are any better photos I can take/post. But I Really Appreciate the help!!!
I inherited this from my mother and her from her grandmother who was from Germany. I would like to know what I have.

Hi your doll by photo's is a Hilda by Kestner Co of Germany . I would like to see body and the wig is modern and not appropriate for her it over comes her face . I thought she was a reproduction because so much hair has made it hard to see face well . These are very sought-after dolls by collectors. Can you remove wig and photo inside head ? Is it white on inside or flesh colored. Wigs are easy to remove dab a little water at base of wig and gently pull up on it . Can put back with a few dabs of glue but if she is a original then she needs a vintage wig human hair or mohair . Please add more photos and undress her ok .

Hi I so appreciate how quick you reply ! Many ask about their dolls and never answer so Thank you! You do have a reproduction Hilda doll. The Stamp on body I believe is a USA mark and a modern body not antique. These reproductions were often bought and or painted by older women so not unusual it has some history. This one is very well done the painting usually tells right away but whoever painted the blank mold was very good . She is lovely ! She has a dome head and that would normally have been painted with hair not a wig . The wig is newer synthetic from after 1950's . She could date back to 1970s as they were doing these in doll making classes for many years when the price of a real Hilda at the time would be over $1000. So people made their own . Ceramic studios sold the blanks you painted it and they fired it . They also sold you a body and patterns, wigs, eyes, doll clothes ect .She was hard to tell from original not holding her and just photo :-) Enjoy her .Oh the molds were made off the actual antique doll so the markings stayed on the mold .

To tell the truth she is first doll I am not sure about head on . I wish I could hold it .I would know in a minute. She is just so well painted I would feel better if you could take her to someone that could hold her to be sure . The wig is not original. They didn't buy wigs from Japan and synthetic was not invented for wigs that long ago. It is replaced or was bought new when doll was made in ceramic class . There is a squiggle on side of head in back and looks like 2 11's . Can you see that ? Tell me what it says or photo it and remove the photo showing legs .
