This hammer was found at a second hand store in Southern California. It has a "maker's mark" of a rectangle with what looks like a diamond in the upper left hand corner, a slightly larger diamond in the middle and again another smaller diamond in the bottom right hand corner of the rectangle. Reminding me of a "3 of diamonds" playing card. The hammer appears to have been casted. One side of the hammer has a round flat smooth end. The other end is the mystery end for me. The base is flared out and the tip of the hammer appears to be "ribbed" and more than half the diameter of the flared base.

    Unsolved Mystery

Agreeing that it's a variety of soft-face hammer. Having the brass face suggests its intent could be more 'non-sparking' than 'non-marring' in purpose...?

Still being made and available at Walmart. It is an autobody hammer.

I have one of these myself from "Ken Tools". Mine is called a Heavy Duty Tire Hammer, with a 16" handle. The rubber Heads are available from Ken Tools and on ebay.

This website is awesome! Thank you all for sharing your knowledge. I have a few questions. Do you think the missing rubber end would've butted up flush to the flared base or gone over it like it appears to on the hammers in the links left in the comments? Being as this hammer isn't brass would it have still been used for auto body work? I've Googled ACE trying to find more about this manufacturer but i haven't had any luck. Anyone know more about them or point me in the right direction? Thanks again!
