Hello,
This vintage doll, purchased by grandfather on tour as a Navy Pilot.
Her body, legs, arms, hands are fabric, stitched tightly over some type of stuffing. Her head is a solid, hollow material. Her face is hand painted. The bottoms of her red shoes are cardboard.
Not sure what is going on with the folded blanket on her head. Looks to be held on by a single sewing pin.
Guessing she is from eastern or northern Europe?
She is is about 11" tall. Thank you for any insight into the country of origin, artist, materials used or any identifiable features. Thank you!
She looks like a Lenci doll, or an imitation of a Lenci doll. They made dolls with this surprised look on their faces, but there are also many imitations.
