There are no hallmarks on this brooch, but it’s beautifully made with intricate detail. The parrot is enamel, with Marcasites and marquise cut blue stones in each corner. The clasp is an unusual design with a kind of semi rollover tab. It came in an old box marked A. Nixon & Sons Ltd. 84 Knifesmithsgate, Chesterfield. No idea if the box is a match for the brooch though. Wondering if anybody might know anything about the maker and the age of this brooch?
I think it's an arts and craft time frame piece. It's an older 'c' clasp. You don't mention the size? Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks Gillian, It’s 59mm x 19mm. Quite heavy too.
Circa 1920, need a better photo of the mark. Considering the placement it's likely French or German.
Thanks Jewels1900, There are no hallmarks on this piece unfortunately. There are a few tiny piercings on the back but they’re not makers marks.
What about Norway ? Anderson I think?
