Mynah Bird Watercolor by Ann Guenther

***SEE MY UPDATE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION*** make sure to see additional information in the comments.

**Edited post to add information below**

    Visible Art- Approximately 12" x 11"
Titled: Mynah Bird...Hawaii (on the border)
    Signature: Ann Guenther

This is a beautiful watercolor. It has tons of detail and eye appeal. I found a 2017 tacoma, wa auction listing where this sold for $5. Someone stole it...thats cheap. It's framed nicely..has a faux bamboo style. Tacoma is near where I live and near where I bought it.

    MYNAH IS A MINOR MISTAKE
"The common myna or Indian myna, sometimes spelled mynah, is a bird in the family Sturnidae, native to Asia. An omnivorous open woodland bird with a strong territorial instinct, the common myna has adapted extremely well to urban environments."

"Adults measure 9 inches and are brown with a black head. They have a white wing patch and tails are dark with a white tip. There is a bare patch of yellow skin around the eye. Bill and legs are yellow."

    WHY HAWAII?
"The mynah was introduced to Hawaii from india in 1865 to control army worms. While not the most abundant bird in Hawaii, the common mynah is probably the most well-known bird among locals."

Absolutely beautiful watercolor, the bird and background are so tropical, it really does say Hawaii to me. No signature expert but they do look similar, first name has a bit more flourish on the colored canvas

Here's the truth...I didn't want people to pre-judge the signature. I believe they are the same person.

The upper signature is from a 1974 Winnie the Pooh animation cell.

Ann Guenther was an artist for Hanna Barbera and worked on all the cartoons. She also worked on Winnie the Pooh, Robin Hood and Iron Giant, sleeping beauty and many more..

dav2no1, Yup, that all but clinches it. :-)

Here's her signature in 2009 (slightly different, but still grammar-school perfect):

Keramikos- Thank you so much for all your help. Your search skills are amazing!

I'm really excited..I loved the piece from the minute I saw it. I knew I had to buy it and I'm glad I did! This just makes it more special, since I grew up watching all those cartoons.

Thank you for the comments. This is one of my favorite art pieces. I loved it from the the moment I saw it. Maybe watching all those years of classic cartoons unknowingly drew me to this?..lol

We also have them here in NZ, very good mimics! We had one in our garden that used to make sounds like a telephone ring, very confusing at times :)
